Build the operating rhythm before adding more process
When execution slips, another layer of process can create motion without clarity.
Operators often inherit symptoms: slow decisions, unclear handoffs and meetings that multiply without resolving anything. The reflex is to document more. Yet process cannot repair a rhythm the leadership team does not honor.
A useful operating rhythm answers three questions: where priorities are set, where progress becomes visible and where a stuck decision gets resolved. Everything else should support those moments rather than compete with them.
COO peers can quickly distinguish a missing mechanism from a leadership habit. That distinction prevents months of system work aimed at a problem that is actually behavioral.
